I was diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea over 25 years ago and have been using CPAP since being diagnosed. According to my wife my symptoms started when I returned from serving in Viet Nam in 1967, so I suffered with undiagnosed sleep apnea for over 20 years. I have been experiencing different cardiac conditions over the years and except for Hypertension the other cardiac episodes have not been diagnosed as a specific heart disease or problem. I have had three episodes that were initially diagnosed as a heart attack but was changed after extensive tests showed a lack of expected symptoms. Other episodes were simply unexplained by the Cardiologist after extensive tests were completed.
My question, is there a list of cardiac conditions related to Sleep Apnea or cardiac conditions that are caused by Sleep Apnea and is there medical evidence that proves the conditions are related or studies that lead Sleep Specialist and Cardiologist to the conclusion that the two illnesses/conditions are related?
Any information or assistance in identifying the source of such a list or a document/report that includes such a list will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
